It’s Monday! Good morning from my tent!
An early morning lap around Marfa reveals pretty quickly that it’s a place I need to explore. The harmony between contemporary design (obviously under Judd’s influence) and dilapidated Texas roadside detritus is truly special.

A stones throw from town I discover a place called El Cosmico. I’m drawn off the road by the sight of retro campers, a cluster of teepees and thier signage applied to the side of an old car.
It’s not quite clear at first, but it turns out to be a “nomadic hotel and campground centered around the belief that life should be a balance of adventure and do-nothingness.” Obviously I need to stay for the night. It only gets better when the friendly young woman sitting behind a vintage oak desk in the only non-nomadic building on the property tells me that there is a safari tent available for the evening. She also points out on a photocopied map where the “hammock grove” is on the property. Done.
[total glamping]
…more to come of day three later, off to see Judd!
