Day Nineteen – 6.17.15

A day on the lake.

I jump on my motorcycle in the morning and head to my Dad’s house. We are taking his boat out on a lake about an hour from his house called Canadarago Lake. We did a lot of fishing when I was growing up and we both look forward to spending the day together out on the water, hopefully catching some fish.

The weather is perfect to be out on the water and the lake is really beautiful. We catch a number of fish in the morning before heading to a place called The Lakehouse for lunch. We disembark on their rickety dock and tie the boat up. Walking into the 172 year-old resturant and inn is like stepping back in time. There are collections of antiques covering every surface of the old rambling building. We eat our delicious lunch on the patio, then head back to the boat.

We both catch endless sunfish until we both get tired of reeling them in. I jump off the bow to cool off and we call it a day.

After towing the boat back to my dad’s house, we jump on his quads for a lap through the muddy wooded trails through the forest I grew up playing and riding dirt bikes in. Fishing and riding off-road with my dad brought me straight back to the simple unadulterated joys of my youth.

We clean up and head to my aunt Kim’s house for dinner with my grandparents. It’s great to see everyone and reminisce with my grandpa about the great time we had last weekend together.
