Day Twenty – 6.18.15

A rainy day on an amazing golf course.

My stepdad and I head to Cooperstown, NY to meet up with Colin (my stepbro) for a round of golf. The Leatherstocking Course was designed in 1909 by the prolific course architect Devereux Emmet. The course is incredibly scenic and very challenging. I’ve never played it and really look forward to checking it out.

We play through the rain and have a great time on the first nine holes. The sky eventually clears and we get a relatively dry back nine. The round culminates on the final hole where we tee off on an island tee box tethered to the land by a bridge just wide enough for a golf cart to pass. The amount of water we need to clear is intimidating and as expected, consumes a few of our golf balls.

The course is one of the best I’ve played and the three of us have respectable rounds and lots of laughs.

After eighteen, we head over to Ommegang to meet my mom for a snack and a beer. The delicious Belgian beers don’t disappoint.
