Sunday driving on Highway 1.
I head out on the bike to explore San Francisco, but the marathon has the city fairly gridlocked. I manage to weave through the hills and see some more of the amazing vistas before I decide to continue my trip south. The morning light on the hyperbolic roof of the cathedral as I’m passing really accentuates the geometry.

I ride south and eventually make it back to the coast and onto Highway 1. The road is dotted with public beaches and they are all very full on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The traffic is very slow for the most part and comes to a grinding halt in a number of the small beach towns. The sights over the relatively short day of riding really run the gamut.

As it gets late in the day, I decide to stop in the town of Marina, CA for the night. I find a hotel near the beach and watch the incredible display of colors over Monterey Bay from a nice spot in the sand.
