Day Thirty-eight – 7.6.15

Flying back to Chicago.

I say my goodbyes to the kids and my brother & Tanya drop me off at the airport on their way to work. I’m headed back to Chicago to hang out with Julie, Claus and Vivian for the evening before  continuing the westward ride tomorrow morning.

I have a layover in Washington DC and get a great view of the Pentagon on the descent.

The layover lasts an hour longer than planned for no apparent reason. Eventually I land in Chicago and take a cab to Julie and Claus’ place. Claus and I run out to grab dinner at Superdawg. I’m happy to have a Chicago-style hotdog from a spot as highly recommended as Superdawg.

The dog is exceptional. In typical Chicago style, its topped with hot peppers, pickle, chopped onion, mustard and a bright green relish. After eating way too much, we spend the rest of the evening on the couch chatting about our respective holiday weekends  and watching Claus’ latest finds from the depths of the Internet. It’s great to spend some more time with Julie, Claus and Vivian before heading out tomorrow.
